“People want to reduce their risk of infection,” says Sharon Lee, FNP-C, a board-certified family nurse practitioner in the Department of Family and Internal Medicine at YRMC PhysicianCare in Prescott Valley. “The flu is more than just a bad cold that can keep you down for a few days, it can be dangerous for children and the elderly.
Who should get the annual flu vaccine? All ages six and older are welcome. This is important for high-risk groups: adults over 65, people with asthma and diabetes, and pregnant women.
About 200,000 Americans are hospitalized for cancer each year. Here are five tips to prevent the flu so you can throw on your favorite sweater and head outside to enjoy the beautiful fall weather.

Tuberculosis is highly contagious and can spread before symptoms appear. Although no one can predict when the flu will start, it can take up to two weeks for antibodies to start working after the flu, which is why it’s important to get an annual flu shot. .
“The general cold is common in the fall and winter months, but it’s not unheard of until May,” Lee said. “I recommend getting an annual flu shot when it’s available.”
Your first line of defense against cancer is to keep yourself as healthy as possible. This means eating a balanced diet filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, exercising regularly, getting plenty of sleep, and taking care of yourself to help you lose weight.
Drinking water can help prevent illness and help you recover when you have a cold or flu. Warm teas, soups, and broths are refreshing additions to your daily fluid intake, and they keep you hydrated.
A Perfect Long Weekend In Prescott, Arizona
Cleaning common areas and frequently used items can kill cold and flu germs living on your phone, remote or kitchen counters. It is better to use disinfectant wipes and paper towels instead of sponges.
Last, but not least, is using proper hand washing techniques and understanding how the flu spreads.
“The virus can enter the body through the eyes, nose and mouth,” Lee said. “Do not touch those areas and encourage your children or grandchildren to do the same.”
When you wash your hands, scrub them vigorously with warm water and soap for 20 seconds. Similarly, do not share dishes or utensils with others.

The holidays are right around the corner and almost everyone could use some extra cash. The retail industry alone will hire more than half a million temporary workers this season, with hotels, restaurants and service providers hiring more temporary workers.
Unfortunately, scammers may be hoping to take advantage of people looking for temporary work. More than 1,250 scams were reported to the BBB Scam Tracker in 2018, making them the second largest scams on the BBB Risk Index.
Start your research now. Employers begin screening candidates in early October, and as foot traffic increases in November and December, hiring times increase.
Find what works for you. If a candidate likes to travel and vacation, they may want to apply for a customer service representative job. If a candidate wants to be self-employed, they can look for warehouse jobs or fulfillment center jobs. BBB encourages job seekers to apply on the organization’s website rather than a third-party website.

Do it where you want to buy it. Employers can choose candidates who know their products. If a job seeker frequents certain stores, he or she may be familiar with the company’s culture and the products they sell.
Available and easy. Hiring managers are looking for candidates who have a flexible schedule and are self-motivated. Be prepared for seasonal workers to work long, sometimes inconvenient hours, especially around holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.
