Orange County Small Business Grants – The City of Fountain Valley received a CARES Act grant from District 2 Supervisor Michelle Steele in the amount of $913,000. The city is partnering with the Small Business Development Center, hosted at California State University Fullerton, to implement the Small Business Emergency Assistance Program. Orange County, Florida. – Orange County government received $243.2 million in federal CARES Act funding. The county’s Small Business Assistance Program will distribute $72.9 million of that to approximately 6,500 small businesses ($10,000 per business) to help them cope with the temporary loss of income due to COVID-19.

In addition, 72.9 million dollars of these funds are intended to help residents. About $36.5 million has been allocated to the Orange County Individual and Family Assistance Program, which will provide a one-time payment of $1,000 per family to residents affected by COVID-19. Funding for this program will help residents fill financial gaps for late rent, mortgage, medical or eligible utility costs. An additional $36.5 million has been allocated for expanded funding to Orange County social security partner organizations.

Information for small businesses and residents is now available online at www.ocfl.net/OrangeCares. Applications for the Small Business Grant Program and the Individual and Family Assistance Program will open on June 8, 2020.

The county advises small businesses and citizens to review the eligibility criteria and prepare their documents to be ready to apply by June 8.

“We urge small businesses and residents to prepare now so they can file their claims in a timely manner,” said Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings. “These funding amounts have been distributed to help as many residents and businesses as possible during this difficult time.”

As part of the Orange County Board of County Commissioners’ philosophy to work with local governments to reach and help as many residents as possible, the funding is open to all residents and small businesses within Orange County, not just Orange County unincorporated.
