Maine Small Business Start-up Grants – Providing financial support to new businesses, expansions and renovations throughout the region. Funding for the agency’s loan, grant, and technical assistance programs is secured through a combination of state and federal loan and grant programs and strategic partnerships. offers direct loan programs through our Remote Loan Funds (RLF). RLF lends money to those in need and uses principal and interest payments to fund new loans.

In addition to our direct loan programs, we can also help businesses access other local and state funding sources.

The CARES Act was passed in 2020 to reduce the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of this move, it received a $670,000 award through the US Economic Development Administration (US EDA) to promote lending through the new RLF Fund. This fund has very favorable terms, which are not typical of our standard RLF loans.
