Macomb County is awarding grants to 148 small businesses in the county to help ease the financial impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Macomb County Planning and Economic Development previously announced plans to help 90 to 150 small businesses in the county.

Officials say the funds will help non-essential businesses “stay afloat” during mandatory shutdowns amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Macomb County has been awarded $800,000 from the Michigan Small Business Assistance Program to distribute among small businesses, officials said. The First State Bank also gave 100,000 dollars to this province. Macomb County contributed $30,000 for a total of $930,000 in small business assistance.

“Many of our businesses, through no fault of their own, have been suddenly hit by the COVID-19 crisis.
