Kkr Small Business Builders Grants For Entrepreneur ($10,000 )
If selected, you will receive a $10,000 grant as well as mentoring and training opportunities with KKR employees. Anyone who applies gets free access to thousands of curated resources and a community of 400,000+ small business owners at Hello Alice.
Hundreds of small business owners have been named as recipients in Rounds 1-5 of the program. Ranging from healthcare providers to children’s gyms and comedy clubs, these recipients use the funds to advance their missions and serve their communities.
Vivian Ross, owner of Elephant in the Room Counseling Services in Augusta, Georgia, said she will use the $10,000 to create jobs and adapt her offerings to better serve clients.
“I started my private practice because, working at another agency, I noticed that people of color rarely came to seek counseling services,” Ross said. “I want to provide a safe space for anyone to get the mental health advice they need. The role I play in my community is to help others in any way I can to teach anyone a healthier way to live. [This $10,000 grant will allow us] to continue to pay our staff, for marketing, and to create new case management cases so that we can go home to provide services to children.

In the latest round, KKR’s relief effort was awarded $10,000 each to 52 small business owners and about $3.5 million to 22 non-profit organizations.
Of the grant recipients, 52% are owned by women, 56% are owned by minorities and 23% are owned by veterans or immediate family members.

The KKR program “seeks to help those most affected by the pandemic,” Ali Hartman, director, head of global citizenship, said in a blog post in December when the program made its first grant. This program aims to support the employees of KKR’s portfolio companies, encourage KKR employees to become changemakers, support small businesses around the world and cooperate with nonprofits, said Mr. Hartman.
Business owners awarded grants in the latest round include Austin Blose, general manager of New Bethlehem, based on Pa Zack’s Farm to Table Restaurant; Bob Burke, owner of Pot au Feu Restaurant in Providence, R.I.; Gina Mariko Rosales, owner of event planning company Make it Mariko and Shana Murad, owner of D’s Market convenience store in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Lesia Daniel, owner of Funtime Preschool of Clinton, Mississippi, said she will use the $10,000 to offer relief to parents navigating childcare during the pandemic.
“Funtime provides high quality, responsive care and education as well as after school care,” Daniel said. “This grant will cover tuition for families who must quarantine due to a positive case of COVID or exposure to COVID.”
