Clayton County Small Business Grants – Clayton County is proud to announce the County’s Small Business COVID-19 Assistance Grant. The purpose of this grant program is to provide grants to businesses throughout Clayton County to support economic recovery from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Individual grants of $10,000 will be awarded to companies adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic that meet the requirements below. Clayton County, where the world and opportunities expand.

Funding will be provided to businesses based on the number of W-2 employees and/or 1099 self-employed contractors working as employees (ie, employees or contractors working at least 30 hours per week or 130 hours per month) at the business as of March 2020. All eligible applications will be reviewed by an independent selection committee. It is very important for all applicants to submit the necessary documents to ensure a complete application. The Commission will review all applications as soon as possible. After the decision is made, representatives of the selection committee will publish an announcement about the grant funds. We aim to notify grantees within two weeks of the application deadline.

The total subsidy amount will be paid to the company at the time of signing the agreement. Companies that fail to provide evidence of rehiring/retaining their employees will be subject to the reinstatement provision of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Once the application period closes, Clayton County Development Authority staff will review all applications for eligibility. All eligible applications will be reviewed by an independent selection committee to recommend grant recipients. A scoring matrix will be used to review each application to ensure a fair and equitable process. We’ve partnered with Dolly Parton’s Think Library to launch a new initiative to improve early literacy by providing monthly books to all Clayton County children from birth to age five.
Reading on grade level is an important indicator of school success and high school graduation, and this program will help children get off to a good start. Age-appropriate, high-quality books are handpicked and delivered monthly to children enrolled in the program. All books are personalized using the child’s name and are sent directly to the child’s home, free of charge to the family. Two bilingual Spanish/English titles are selected each year for each age group, and books are also available for children who are blind or visually impaired.

Clayton County’s Tara Gateway Study will examine three land use sites along Tara Boulevard, Upper Riverdale Road, Jonesboro Township and Lovejoy Township. It will include pedestrian safety recommendations along the corridor to improve access to existing and planned bus routes and rethink the development of the corridor to make it a Gateway to Clayton.
