To be eligible to apply for this round of grants, users must complete any combination of two courses, training programs, and community programs between July 1, 2022, and November 14, 2022, and receive the grant by November 14, 2022 Application has to be submitted. Small Business Digital Ready is committed to helping small businesses thrive in the digital economy. As part of that initiative, and in partnership with national community development nonprofit LISC, small business owners are offered the opportunity to apply for a $10,000 small business grant. In 2022, small businesses have committed to providing more than $1 million in grants to digital ready users alone. Here, four of them share how they used their funding — and new learnings from digital-ready courses — to grow their businesses in remarkable ways.

After completing Planning for the Unexpected: Building Resilience in Your Business Curriculum, I felt a different mindset. I am now more interested in accelerating future adoption and continuity planning for the family business. Q. What would you say is the key to a successful family business? A – To love and support each other unconditionally and to know that we are living our motto by truly changing lives through education. That is why we work hard every day and that is why our 89 year old father still comes to work to inspire all our students, especially our youth.
Jaja Chen and Devin Lee founded Cha Community, their premium dumpling and boba tea company, in 2018. The business is based in Waco, Texas and focuses on building community like making interesting stuff. Chen and Lee were opening their second restaurant when the pandemic hit, prompting Chen to follow Grant. issue. How has the pandemic affected the opening of your new location? Answer- At first the work went according to the plan. But when the construction cost skyrocketed, we realized that we needed more funds to complete the project. issue. How did the grant help the Cha community during that critical time? a. This grant made a huge difference to our small businesses. We had challenges navigating COVID-19 federal relief dollars, resulting in limited cash flow as the pandemic took a toll on our business. With the help of the grant, we were able to complete our boba tea restaurant in Temple, Texas, without taking on any further debt. This is only the assistance needed to cover construction costs and keep the project running. We successfully opened in March 2022. issue. How’s business going? a. The Downtown Temple has really made us feel welcome and been very helpful. Now our focus is on growing the catering and food truck pop-up events in the communities that we are a part of.
